We’re Justin and Brent, two best mates, one very questionable car, and a whole lot of heart. In June 2027, we’re taking on the Shitbox Rally to raise funds for the Cancer Council and honour the legends we’ve lost, as well as those still fighting the tough fight.

Between Brent's mechanical know how and Justin's Army honed ability to improvise, we are hoping we can keep the wheels turning. If all else fails, Justin has mastered the art of dancing with a mop, a skill that won’t fix the car, but will absolutely keep morale high when we’re broken down on the side of the road.

Together, we’re Running on Hope, because let’s be honest, that’s probably what the car will be running on too. Our goal is $6,000, and every dollar goes directly to the Cancer Council to fund vital cancer research. Your support genuinely matters. Big or small, it helps families, fuels breakthroughs, and keeps us rolling… even when the shitbox is questioning our life choices.

We’re doing this for the people we miss dearly, the ones still fighting. Thanks for being part of our journey, one dodgy kilometre at a time.

CAIRNS DARWIN 3,400 km in a $1,500 car RUNNING ON HOPE

Running on Hope are driving a $1,500 car from Cairns to Darwin to raise money for Cancer Council

They're doing what!?

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.

Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.

The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.

And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.

This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
