Cancer touches almost everyone - a parent, a mate, a partner. Most of us have watched someone we love go through it, and mostly felt powerless to do anything but hope.

This one's for Dan Askew. A best mate, an absolute legend, and someone who'll never be forgotten. Cancer took him from us, and everyone else this disease has touched, and we're not prepared to just sit with that.

So we're taking on Shitbox Rally 2027 Winter: seven days, Cairns to Darwin, in a car that cost less than most people's phone. We've bought our shitbox and it's already fighting us every step of the way, follow along as we try to keep it (and ourselves) alive all the way to Darwin.

Every team has to raise a minimum of $5,000, and every single dollar goes straight to Cancer Council to fund research that gives people a better shot than Dan got. Chip in below, big or small, it all adds up, and it all matters.

CAIRNS DARWIN 3,400 km in a $1,500 car ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

Onwards and Upwards are driving a $1,500 car from Cairns to Darwin to raise money for Cancer Council

They're doing what!?

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.

Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.

The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.

And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.

This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
